Working Life in IRAS

Time to update my blog I guess :D alright, it's gonna be regarding my internship life in a government sector. Well, it sounds kinda cool that at the age of 19, you get to work in such a BIG company. In fact, it is not as amazing as it seemed to be.

Firstly, you have to work from Monday to Friday from 8am -5.30pm. Next, you might be called upon to work on Saturday. However, I don't mind working on Saturday cause there are very few phone calls. ^^ Also, the working time is only until 1pm for Saturday, that means I can go to town in the afternoon since they are just a few stops away from my workplace!

Well, the worst part of working is not the work itself. To me, it's more on the training. We had 8 days of intensive training and yes, I meant INTENSIVE!!! The training was super dry and heavily content based! Gosh... There's over 80 slides each day! And there's links to Microsoft words within the slides!!! Nightmare!

I shall now share with you my job scope. I'm in the contact centre and my job is answering calls from taxpayers. I am trained in business income tax. Each day is a fresh new day cause you can never predict what they will ask you. Each time before I pick up a call, I will pray hard not to have angry taxpayers. Haha! So far so good, my taxpayers were really friendly and nice.

I love short and sweet calls for instance: when is the deadline for filing? Gosh... This is by far my favourite question! Haha~

Okay, time to talk about my colleagues. I get to know around 15 more friends here who are same course with me in my school. I also get to know 2 other friends from Ngee Ann Poly. They are super friendly and funny :D

Each day, we have to answer calls and advice taxpayers. We are there to solve their problems and clear their doubts. Those who love talking and help others will definitely LOVE this job. The stress from this job is actually giving wrong information to taxpayers. That's like the only thing I'm worried of.

Actually I don't mind handling a lot of calls as long as they are easy to handle. I also appreciate the fact that the taxpayers are friendly, understanding and nice~ :D

Even though work life is quite stressful, I managed to enjoy myself during the weekends.
